Praise The Poet - Justen Hayes

Posted by 710 EMG on December 7, 2016 at 12:00 AM Comments comments (13)

After a lot of thought and close observation, we decided to do a special highlight on and up-and-coming author/poet by the name of Justen Hayes. Many people reach out to me daily on social media about publishing, management, and even advice on starting their own business but no one is usually serious. When Mr. Hayes reached out to me some time ago on Facebook I did not get that vibe at all. In fact, I knew her was serious. He was pretty persistent about taking his career as a writer to the next level and he touched bases with me on a regular basis. I eventually checked out his work and was impressed by his wordplay and delivery. The man has talent!

Currently, Mr. Justen Hayes is working on a poetic chronicle of his life that he plans on turning into an actual book. I am excited for him! Below is a brief interview that I conducted on Justen Hayes as well as a poem for you to view. We at 710 EMG wish you much success on your future endeavors!

Let the interview begin!

710 EMG: Our team has been following your work for quite some time now and we are impressed by your nonstop work ethic and passion. How long have you been writing?

Justen Hayes: I have been writing for 16 years

710 EMG:  When did you realize that writing was your gift?

Justen Hayes: I would say around 13 when I was able to be myself through my words and impress my 9th grade teacher Miss Barnes (not an easy thing to do).

710 EMG: A lot of writers/authors have been inspired by another author to pursue their dreams. What about you? Did an author inspire you?

Justen Hayes: I have not published anything as of yet but I intend on publishing a book called "The Military Chronicles" next year.

710 EMG: A lot of writers/authors have been inspired by another author to pursue their dreams. What about you? Did an author inspire you?

Justen Hayes: Yes, actually. You ma'am with all of your positivity and showing me a dream can be reached if you claim it.

710 EMG: Wow, thank you! I am glad to be an inspiration to you. So, where do you see yourself at 3 years from now?

Justen Hayes: A successful writer, activist, job creator, and an overall better person. I hope the example I set will be one my son can be proud of.

710 EMG: Your son is already proud of you - believe me. Children view their parents as superheros and they place their parents on high platforms. Trust and believe that your child is already proud of his dad (smile). So, where do you see yourself at 6 years from now?

Justen Hayes: I'm going to be married, have a few businesses, write in all types of categories, and be a traveler of the world. I definitely don't see myself staying in one place.

710 EMG: That's a great plan! Before you write do you do any special warm-up ritual?

Justen Hayes: Not really. I am more of an in the moment kind of writer. I could be in traffic and hear something that sparks an idea. I do write a lot from my car.

710 EMG: Okay, so are you a pen to paper writer or fingers to keyboard kind of writer?

Justen Hayes: Definitely a keyboard guy. On the phone that is. I might be in a movie and want to jot something down real quick or at a bar and catch the vibe I'm in.

710 EMG: If one of us popped up on you while you are writing what would we see?

Justen Hayes: Music playing with a smirk on my face. Other parts of that observance are scenario specific (laughter).

710 EMG: What do you have up your sleeve for your readers? Any new projects in the works?

Justen Hayes: I am building up a collection of poetry that I am putting out. Check my page out on facebook Kindred Poetry Session for a look at what I'm putting down and I have an autobiography I'm working on as well.

710 EMG: I'm sure that they will both be a success. Tell us something silly about yourself that most people don’t know.

Justen Hayes: I am a closet Dawson's Creek and Friends fan. I know both theme songs by heart. Hope I didn't lose too many cool points for that (laughter).

710 EMG: (Laughter) You totally lost all cool points! No, I am just playing with you (more laughter). So ,what do you prefer? Water or Soda?

Justen Hayes: Soda all day! Who loves soda? Justen loves orange soda (laughter).

710 EMG: (Laughter)  Are you a meat eater, vegetarian, or vegan?

Justen Hayes: I'm a meat eater for sure. I am a southern man. We don't survive on veggies alone (laughter).

710 EMG: We all know that southern men love their chicken and steak (laughter).

710 EMG: Chicken Noodle Soup with a _______________.

Justen Hayes: Saltines Crackers.

710 EMG: (laughter) Crackers? You were supposed to say with an Orange Soda on the side! So, what is your favorite song of 2016?

Justen Hayes: The Chainsmokers "Don't Let Me Down". The vibe is crazy whenever I hear this song.

710 EMG: Ah...you're an EDM listener? Very interesting! What is your zodiac sign?

Justen Hayes: Taurus

710 EMG: Inquiring minds want to know if you are single, engaged, married, separated, or married to the literary game? Which one are you?

Justen Hayes: Hmmm. I'll say married to the literary game with some single moments (laughter).

710 EMG: Well, it’s about time for us to wrap up this interview. Where can you be reached at and who is your favorite interviewer of all time? You don’t have to answer. I know it’s me!

Justen Hayes: I can be reached on Twitter at @jthay25. On Facebook you can find me by searching Kindred Poetry Session, Military Chronicles, and Justen Hayes. Drop me a line. And you already know what it is!! I didn't even realize we were having an interview. That's how good you are!

710 EMG: (Laughter) Thank you and thank you for your time. It was great interviewing you and we look forward to seeing more from Justen Hayes!

Trust Me

We're on the ledge, fire burning behind us. I see the fear in your eyes and we have nowhere to go seemingly. I smile, for God gave me a partner to make it through the flames with. Favor comes through faith, even in the midst of our burning building. Look at my heart and know we will prevail. I embrace you at the center and assure you no harm as you hold onto mine as we jump off, hand in hand. We live by faith and not by sight. Trust me....

Tabitha Sharpe Is The Word On The Streets

Posted by 710 EMG on November 25, 2016 at 7:10 AM Comments comments (2)

Now this is an interview that I've been itching to do. From the moment that I completed her book entitled "Unhinged" I knew that Tabitha Sharpe was a force to be reckoned with in the literary world. Check out this interview between myself and Ms. Sharpe Pen herself....

710 EMG: Our team has been following your work for quite some time now and we are impressed by your nonstop work ethic and passion. How long have you been writing?

Tabitha: I have been writing in a journal since I was 11, editing newspaper entries since 17, and officially “big girl” writing since I was 19.

710 EMG:  Nice! You've been gaining the experience since you was a young girl. When did you realize that writing was your gift?

Tabitha: It was after my last incarceration in 2014, after handwriting a book and letting my pod read it. They had so much joy from reading those 200 pages, it gave me a sense of belonging. From that moment on, I kept having dreams of story lines, and I knew they weren’t coming to me specifically for no reason.

710 EMG: How much time did you spend incarcerated and was that last time getting locked up a wake-up?

Tabitha: Wake up, slap on the behind, severe warning (she laughs) On and off, I have spent 4 years incarcerated, all of my time adds up to that. My last and final encounter was October 8, 2014.

710 EMG: People love to ignore those warning signs even if the sign hits them harder than a brick in the face. Any advice for anyone out there reading this?

Tabitha: Stop blaming yourself. Acknowledge the things in your past that are beneath you, and move forward. Forgive yourself, forgive others, and fulfill your destiny. You will block your blessings by staying angry, and can't truly walk in your purpose until you hit rock bottom. You can get up when you're ready.

710 EMG: Great advice! What you just said a lot of people need to hear and understand. Life is about moving forward. So, when did you publish your first book and are you a self-published author?

Tabitha: I published my first book, "Behind Our Husbands’ Lies", in 2015. As of May 2016, I became a self-published author.

710 EMG: How many books or pieces have you released? Tell us about your latest release.

Tabitha: I have released four books, including a paranormal romance novella. My latest release is titled Homicide at Studio 1. The main idea consists of a vengeful killer wanting his spot back on a hit TV series. When he is released from prison, he gets in contact with his daughter, who he hasn’t seen since the age of three, and does everything he can to give her the world, as he tried to before. Things go awry, and he does some things that will ultimately end in disaster for others. This story is set in the historical crooks and nannies of Nashville. I really wanted to shine some light on Printer’s Alley, as I’m just as in love with history as I am with anything else.

710 EMG: Now that sounds like a must read! I'm going to have to check it out soon. A lot of writers/authors have been inspired by another author to pursue their dreams. What about you? Did an author inspire you?

Tabitha: An author continues to inspire me. If it weren’t for people like P.C. Cast, I would never feel ok with mixing timelines, or paranormal/mythical creature. Stephen King for his consistency in story lines, and people like Octavia Butler who let me know it’s ok to be someone of color and write outside of the norm.

710 EMG: Have you won any awards or been nominating for any awards during your writing career? (Skip if this does not apply.)

Tabitha: I was nominated for a SIBA(Summer Indie Book Award) for my paranormal romance book, Bound by Eden.

710 EMG: Congratulations on that! I actually read that book too! Where do you see yourself at 3 years from now?

Tabitha: Thank you! Three years from now, I see myself being an NYT bestseller, offering a salary for my authors instead of commissions, and opening an office to help local writers truly hone in on their execution of writing.

710 EMG: I love it! So, what about 6 years from now?

Tabitha: Six years from now, I see myself only writing Paranormal Romance books. I see myself being an international bestseller, touring the world, doing some motivational speaking, and having my funeral home opened.

710 EMG: Wow! A funeral home? That's the first!

Tabitha: I love dead people.

710 EMG: That is clear as day ( laughter).

Tabitha: I do! (more laughter) I want to be a mortician.

710 EMG: We have some things in common but we'll speak about that off the record. Back to the interview. Before you write do you do any special warm-up ritual?

Tabitha: I set an alarm for an hour, and say I’m going to write for an entire hour. I cut on Vampire Diaries, and listen to the TV. The sound keeps me focused. I’ve seen every episode, so I could quote it backward and forwards myself. I always make sure I have something to snack on.

710 EMG: Are you a pen to paper writer or fingers to keyboard kind of writer?

Tabitha: I keep a notebook by my bed to journal and record my dreams, and I use my computer to go to work on a story, so I’ve got a little bit of both in me.

710 EMG: If one of us popped up on you while you are writing what would we see?

Tabitha: You would see my hair all over the place, my pj’s because I write comfortably my house is usually a mess when completing a project, so chaos and my white board would be covered with ideas like a math formula.

710 EMG: (laughter) Wow! So, what do you have up your sleeve for your readers? Any new projects in the works?

Tabitha: I have a HUGE project I’m working on now titled Crystal-Gazing:Genesis. It’s a woman empowerment, save the world, paranormal, destiny fulfilled kind of story.

710 EMG: Nice! Tell us something silly about yourself that most people don’t know.

Tabitha: Something silly about myself that most people don’t know about me is I’m secretly a comedian. I do stand up for my friends all the time. I have a microphone stand and everything.

710 EMG: A comedian? Are you serious? (laughter) I can believe it!

Tabitha: That time for me is still very real, and yes, I usually just tell stories from my past. Other people think they're funny.

710 EMG: Well, I'm going to have to sit in on one of your stand up's because I love comedy!

Tabitha: I haven't made it out of Club de Jackson (my house) but perhaps one day I will do a live video. (more laughter)

710 EMG: Okay, okay...back to the interview. Water or Soda?

Tabitha: Soda every time, specifically Tahitian Treat.

710 EMG: Meat Eater, Vegetarian, or Vegan?

Tabitha: Oh, I love meat! Red meat is my favorite.

710 EMG: Chicken Noodle Soup with a _______________.

Tabitha: Grilled cheese

710 EMG: (laughter) What is your favorite song of 2016?

Tabitha: You don’t know by Tank

710 EMG: Oh, yeah, Tank is the man! What is your zodiac sign?

Tabitha: I am a Virgo, but I have Leo emotions.

710 EMG: Okay then. Inquiring minds want to know if you are single, engaged, married, separated, or married to the literacy game? Which one are you?

Tabitha: I am in a polyamorous relationship with my wife, of one year, and the literary industry.

710 EMG: Interesting! Well, it’s about time for us to wrap up this interview. Where can you be reached at and who is your favorite interviewer of all time? You don’t have to answer. I know it’s me!

Tabitha: This has actually been a pretty awesome interviewer, so to close out 2016, we can definitely say you!
